Fall is Almost Here!

Today as I was walking to school, I noticed that some of the leaves on the trees were changing colors already. This can’t be right—it’s still very warm outside. I decided to ask about it during Science. For some reason, everyone was not in the mood to be in school. I think it was because it still felt like summer. I did have the thought to try to go swimming before school, but I woke up late and Mama Monkey hurried me off to class.

Little Ape was annoying for most of the day. I almost didn’t get a chance to ask my question because he kept on getting in trouble until he got sent to see the principal, Mr. Mandrill. I kept waiting and waiting for Mr. Howler to call on me every time I raised my hand, but he kept calling on other kids. I finally blurted out my question. Luckily, I did not get sent out into the hall for doing that.

Mr. Howler said that the trees need light to keep the leaves green. As the days get shorter there is less light and the trees get ready for their winter hibernation, so the temperature doesn’t really affect the color change and that is why the leaves are changing already. I can’t wait to see all the pretty colors.
